Telepsychiatry, or telemedicine, is a specifically defined form of video conferencing that can provide psychiatric services to patients who are not able to come in-person to the Cairn Center. If you have a webcam on your computer, we can use Skype to conduct sessions if this form of doctor-patient contact is necessary. Phone sessions are also an option if this is agreeable to both parties. Research has shown poorer outcomes when patients see their physicians inconsistently, so for people with busy work schedules, travel obligations, family commitments, difficulties finding a babysitter, transportation issues, and those that live far from the Cairn Center, telesessions may offer flexibility in your ability to have consistent access to Dr. Jain as your physician.
